My brother Paul and I owned Capurro's Pier 47 Restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf during the 1970's and 1980's. We come from a long line of restauranteurs in San Francisco. IT'S IN OUR BLOOD!!!
Proprietors/Publicans Frank & Jen Capurro
(We love visiting with old friends & new)
After raising three sons in Petaluma, we're empty nesters, and thrilled to be Pub owners. We traveled to Ireland researching the history and lore of the Irish Pub.
"We walked in here in August 2003, felt the 'craic' and have never left.
The "craic" means warm, welcoming, having fun, a good time, music and a laugh. Many people say "An Irish Pub is an extension of your home." We welcome you to ours!
Our Chef - Mario Perez
Frank and Jen have found a kinship with acclaimed chef, Mario Perez, a European trained master who first learned to cook at his family home in Venice Beach, California.
"As far back as I can remember every one of our family functions were centered around a large meal. Whatever differences we might have had as a family, they were always put aside when we shared that meal. That made a big impression on me, my style of food and how I present it." Brother Carlos (who is often at Mario's side cooking for parties and banquets) and two sisters, Monica and Martha are an important part of Mario's life. "They're more than just siblings, they're my best friends," says the chef.
Mario has worked in restaurants such as Spago, JiRaffe, and Zagat-rated Mélisse, of Santa Monica where he was "chef de Cuisine." His experience in the kitchens of Paris and Provence helped to hone his skills, and define his work ethic; "I didn't speak French, but I learned to get by with the universal language of hard work." Returning from Europe, Perez became executive chef at neighborhood restaurant, Zax in Brentwood. Now, home and family is here in Petaluma.
"I focus on what makes me happy" says Perez, "my family, friends, a good quality of life and providing my guests with good food and a fun atmosphere. When you come to eat at Finbar's you will taste the skills and passion I have for my craft, but you will leave with a little bit of my soul."
